Full Dentures

Complete (or Full) dentures are constructed when all the natural teeth are lost in either the upper or lower jaw, or both. Complete dentures restore the missing teeth as well as give support to the facial muscles giving you a natural smile and restoring your confidence.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are constructed to replace missing teeth around natural teeth are that remaining. They are removeable and are held in place by clasps around natural teeth. There are different types of partial dentures:

Cast metal: Cast Metal partial dentures are usually made of a chromium cobalt alloy which is very strong, thin and light, making it superior to other types. The base is cast metal and acrylic teeth are attached to it.

Acrylic: Acrylic (or plastic) partials are easier to repair or add teeth to, however, they are weaker and can fracture more easily due to forces of chewing. They therefore generally require a thicker and more extensive coverage making them much bulkier than a metal denture.

Flexible: Another alternative is a flexible denture generally made of thermoplastic nylon which is bendable and very strong. An advantage is that they have clear flexible clasps so they are more aesthetically pleasing. There is also a less expensive flexible acrylic type denture which is worn temporarily while waiting to have implants inserted.

Relines and repairs

A reline of a denture is the replacement of the fitting surface so that the denture is firmer in the mouth and more comfortable. Most dentures become loose over time due to changes in the supporting bone of your upper and lower jaws. If the actual denture teeth are in good condition, they can remain as they are and just have the fitting surface replaced. An impression is taken in the denture in the morning and the reline is fitted in the afternoon.

Repairs and tooth additions to the denture are carried out when necessary, and because we have an onsite laboratory, they can be returned the same day.

Immediate Dentures

Immediate dentures are fabricated prior to the teeth being extracted by using impressions of the existing natural teeth. The dentures are inserted in the mouth by the dentist immediately after the teeth are extracted. These dentures need ongoing attention as the gums resorb and will need to be relined in six months. The advantage is that the patient does not have to go without teeth while their gums are healing.

Teeth Whitening

We offer take home whitening kits. Impressions of the mouth are taken and individual bleaching trays are constructed.  Following proper instructions, the bleaching process can then be carried out in the privacy of your own home.

Custom Mouth-guards

A custom-made mouthguard offers the best protection of your teeth and jaw when participating in contact sports. They are far superior to the boil and bite type purchased over the counter. The custom mouthguards are made for each individual therefore providing a much better fit and better protection. They are also easier to breath and speak with and come in a variety of colours, including your favourite team colours.
